Kilimanjaro is a non-technical climb requiring no ropes, ice axes or special equipment. The main challenge is altitude — the summit sits at 5,895m. Good physical fitness and proper acclimatization (choosing a longer route) are the key success factors.
What is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?

The two main seasons are January–March (warm, some snow, fewer crowds) and June–October (dry, colder summit, clearer views). July and August are the most popular months. December and May/November can have heavy rains but are possible with proper gear.
What gear do I need?

Key items include: 4-season sleeping bag, insulated layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, hiking boots (broken in!), trekking poles, headlamp and sunscreen. We provide a full packing list after booking and can arrange rental equipment in Arusha or Moshi.
